Christmas Cap Project Creation #4
It took a while, but here's the fourth one.  I like how the pattern looks when it's done, but this was way too much trouble if I'm trying to get them out quickly!  Whoever wears this will have quite the warm cap!

The pattern is on the Coats and Clark website here and I used Caron One Pound in Deep Violet (100% acrylic).

As this is a girlier cap, I decided the pink Gloomy was the best model for the job.

Happy Halloween everyone!!

Christmas Cap Project Creation #3
Today's creation is a rather large, floppy hat.  Not one for someone to sleep in, but to go out with.  It's rather cute with two yellow stripes and a brim that can be folded/rolled up.

I got the pattern from Drops Design here and I used Vanna's Choice in Pink (100% acrylic) and Caron Simply Soft Eco in Sundrop (80% acrylic, 20% NatureSpun Post-Consumer Recycled Polyester).

Christmas Cap Project - Creation #1
This year, I want to make as many caps as possible to donate to those who are going through cancer treatment.  My goal is 100, but I doubt I can make QUITE that many.  In any case, I will try to make as many as I can up until my birthday at the end of November before sending them to a charity that takes caps for cancer patients.  I haven't decided yet which one, so if you have a suggested charity, please let me know!

Also, I want to save time by not creating my own patterns, but I want every hat to be different.  So, if you have a favorite free crochet pattern that you want to suggest, please let me know! :)

The first hat was taken from FaveCrafts.com and you can find the pattern here.  It is made from Sensations Rainbow Boucle Patterns yarn in Pink/Grey Rainbow Boucle.  It is 88% Acrylic and 12% Nylon.  The model is Gloomy Bear~

Allie Brosh Amigurumi Doll
For my first blog post, I'm beginning with my Allie Brosh doll.  Allie Brosh writes a wonderfully wonderous blog entitled Hyperbole and a Half  which keeps me well-amused into the wee hours of the night.  So, as tribute, I present the Allie Brosh Amigurumi Doll!

Please feel free to make/alter this pattern as you'd like, but as always, no selling or reposting of the pattern!  I'd much rather you link someone back here than re-post the pattern.  Also, if you make one, please let me see!  I'd love to see everyone's Allies!

Pattern:

Supplies
G Hook
1 pair 12 mm black eyes
pink worsted weight yarn for dress
white worsted weight yarn for head/bottom
yellow worsted weight yarn for hair
small piece of black felt
black yarn (or pipe cleaners) for arms
craft or hot glue (to attach mouth)

I used Red Heart worsted weight yarn for this doll.

Note - this is in the Amigurumi style.  Do not close rounds, do not chain one at the beginning of a round.  Crochet in continuous spirals.

HEAD
 With white yarn
r1 - Magic circle with 6 stitches (6)
r2 - sc inc in each sc (12)
r3 - *sc 1, inc 1* rep around (18)
r4 - *sc 2, inc 1* rep around (24)
r5 - *sc 3, inc 1* rep around (30)
r6-12 - sc 30 (30)
r13 - *sc 3, dec 1* rep around (24)
r14 - *sc 2, dec 1* rep around (18)
r15 - *sc 1, dec 1* rep around (12)
FO, leaving a long tail for sewing

Eye placement - I put the eyes between rows 7 and 8, about 7 or 8 stitches apart.  I recommend cutting out a mouth and using that to gauge your placement.

Hair - After stuffing the head, cut out about 8 12-inch strands of the yellow.  Using a larger hook (I used a K), put the hook through the top-most stitch in the head (the original magic circle).  Fold yarn in half and use the hook to bring the yarn through the hole, making a loop.  Pull the two loose ends of the yarn through the hoop and tug up to knot it tight to the head.  You may want to pull on individual strands.  (Alternately, you could draw each yarn piece through individually, though it'll take more time).  Trim as desired for hair style.

BODY
 Start with white yarn
r1 - Magic circle with 6 stitches (6)
r2 - sc inc in each sc (12)
r3 - *sc 1, inc 1* rep around (18)
r4 - *sc 2, inc 1* rep around (24)
r5 - *sc 3, inc 1* rep around (30)
r6 - *sc 4, inc 1* rep around (36)
r7 - In back loops only, sc 36 (36)
r8-9 - sc 36
Switch to pink
r10 - *sc 4, dec 1* rep around (30)
r11 - In back loops only, sc 30 around (30)
r12-14 - sc 30
r15 - *sc 3, dec 1* rep around (24)
r16-18 - sc 24
r19 - *sc 2, dec 1* rep around (18)
r20-22 - sc 18
r23 - *sc 1, dec 1* rep around (12)
FO
Turn doll upside down and, with pink yarn, sc in the front loops of r7 (this will make the bottom of the dress)
r1 - sc in each front loop (36)
r2 - *sc 5, inc 1* rep around (42)
r3-4 - sc 42(you can keep making it longer if you'd like, but I wouldn't recommend more than an additional row or two)
FO

Stuff all parts, sew body to head, weave in ends.

For arms, either use pipe cleaners and attach at neck or use yarn.  If using yarn, cut out three 12 inch pieces.  Thread each piece through the neck (through a different hole for each) so that one end of each strand hangs on either side of the doll.  Braid the ends and knot off the end where desired.  Trim ends as desired.
